The 2015 high school football season kicks off this weekend, and we’ll have four games in two nights!
Tonight on K96, it’s Bellevue at Perkins. We’ll Countdown to Kickoff at 6:30, with game time at 7. On 95.3 WLKR, it’s Margaretta at Willard. Join us In the Huddle at 6:30…Kickoff is at 7. A doubleheader is on tap tomorrow night on 95.3. Live at 7, it’ll be Norwalk at Mentor Lake Catholic. After that, it’s Pigskin Playback between St. Mary Central Catholic at St. Paul.

Republican State Representative Terry Boose of Norwalk has announced plans to run for Huron County Commissioner next year. Meanwhile, Democratic County Commissioner Tom Dunlap says he’ll run for the 57th District House seat, currently held by Boose. Due to term limits, Boose can’t seek re-election to the Ohio House. He served as a Huron County Commissioner from 1997 until 2004. Dunlap is in his first term as a county commissioner. He served one term as Huron County Sheriff in the 80’s.
If you’re on the Ohio Turnpike this weekend, you’ll notice more Highway Patrol Troopers.
It’s part of an initiative to stop traffic fatalities. Troopers say they’ll also work to reduce serious injury crashes, and apprehend drivers using the toll road for illegal purposes.
If you live or drive along Norwalk’s Central Boulevard, heads up…
Starting next week, crews will begin mobilizing, in preparation for the 2015 Waterline Replacement Project. Actual work will begin the week of September 8th, and that means during construction, Central Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic from 7am until 6pm Monday through Thursday. If necessary, work will take place on Friday, to stay on schedule. Driveways may be temporarily blocked. School busses and emergency services will have access during construction. Central Boulevard residents can expect minor disruptions to water service, once work begins.
The Orion spacecraft is undergoing testing at NASA Plum Brook in Sandusky.
The tests center around Orion’s service module, which will be used on future manned missions to Mars.
A Norwalk man is facing drunk driving charges, after his arrest earlier this week.
According to reports, 54-year-old Donald W. Johnson was going 88 miles per hour Tuesday night on U.S. Route 20 in Townsend Township. His blood alcohol content was .137, well above Ohio’s legal limit of .08. Johnson was convicted of DUI in 2000 and 2001. He was charged in 2006, but was found not guilty.
The Lorain County Democratic Party will not be represented at the Lorain County Fair the rest of this week.
They’ve pulled out in protest of a vendor allowed to sell Confederate flags and other gear.
